Thomas the Tank Engine

I grew up watching Thomas the Tank Engine, especially when it was on PBS as Shining Time Station. I cannot understand people when they take fictional characters and stories and say they are racist, sexist, and anti-environmentalist. Did they experience a gloomy childhood where there was no joy in their lives due to their overbearing parents? Do they criticize everything that people take enjoyment?

NBA

Lebron James is the worst thing to happen to the NBA. Commentators always claim that he has a pass-first mentality. Maybe that is true when in the regular season. When it gets to the playoffs, the pressure turns him into a ball-hog.

"The Decision" - 30 minutes of my life I want back.   ( I watched the first half, had to leave to do something else after the announcement)

Not 3...Not 4....Not 5...Not 6....Not 7....Just 2 championships!!! You will never catch Bill Russell's 11, Jordan's 6, or even Kobe's 5 rings!!!

Charles and global warming

When it comes to the science of global warming.....I mean climate change, it's just a big joke. Summer is hot, winter is cold, and the fall/spring months are transitions. It has been that way since the beginning of time and nothing humans can do will change it.

Algore goes around the world spreading his ideas of rising sea levels and the extinction of the polar bears. I think he is still mad that he didn't become president after the 2000 election, so he hates everybody in the West. He especially hates America and wants revenge!!!



Prince Charles wants to end capitalism. Somebody needs to remind him that capitalism is the only way his family gets money to subsidize their lifestyle. The British royals live in luxury as long as others prosper under a capitalist society. The end of capitalism will lead to revolution and the end of the royal family in Great Britain. I guarantee it.

Supreme Court

Here's my very brief analysis of the Supreme Court as it is currently constituted:

Kagan - Obama clone, worst of the current court, too liberal

Sotomayor - strong Latina, too liberal, only thing good she did was end the 1994 baseball strike

Alito - strong conservative, better than the first choice Bush nominated at the time

Breyer - too liberal, doesn't use footnotes

Ginsburg - too liberal, too reliant on foreign law

Thomas - one of the best judges on the current court

Kennedy - swing vote, too liberal for a conservative judge

Scalia - best justice of all time, opinions are strong and intellectual

Roberts - strong conservative except for Obamacare (will not repeal it, wants the elected branches to repeal it themselves)

Green

The Green Movement and the Left have shown their true colors. Instead of calling for cap and trade, along with other half-measures, they are calling for the end of Western civilization and capitalism

I believe in free speech but when the Left is calling for the end of capitalism due to climate change, where is the line crossed between protected speech and outright treason. The Left wants to overthrow this country and turn it into a backward, stone age culture with no modern conveniences, technology, or appliances.

Here's my suggestion to those on the Left who want to end capitalism - LEAVE. If you don't like how Americans are doing their business, go live in a third world country and enjoy the poverty.

General Sports

Commentary on sports

1. NFL - The NFL is the best sports league in the United States and will stay that way for a long time. The only thing that can bring it down is left-wingers trying to destroy the game by regulating it to death. Concussion rules and other regulation will hurt the product.

The NFL should expand the fan base -  that's a given. However, no NFL team should EVER be based outside the United States. No teams in England, Europe, Canada, Mexico, anywhere else other than the good ole US of A.

On a side note, Tim Tebow thinks he can still play in the NFL. He's a good person, a motivational figure (they even made a mundane statement of his as a "class quote" for the 2014 Kadoka graduating class). However, Tebow does not have the mechanics nor the ability to play in the NFL as a quarterback.

Favorite Team: Green Bay Packers - 13 time world champions.


2. MLB - Baseball is as American as apple pie. However, the season is too long. I would cut the season in half - make every game count even more. I would get rid of inter-league games and the Chicago Cubs.

Favorite team: Minnesota Twins

In terms of New York city baseball franchises, I would root for the bubonic plague over the Mets and the Yankees.

3.  NHL - I understand that hockey is a Canadian sport but it is more entertaining to watch live than most sports. Hockey has speed, excitement, and fighting, along with the punishment system second to none.

Favorite team: Rapid City Rush and the Colorado Avalanche


4. NBA - Basketball is a sport that I used to enjoy but now with the players making stupendous amounts of money and the sheer arrogance of most of them, I don't watch it unless I'm bored or in the middle of the playoffs.

Favorite team: No NBA team wants me as a fan, Spurs if I had to choose.

Finally, a dishonorable mention: Soccer is an international sports for countries that don't have a decent military and can't win wars. If you can't use your hands (unless you're SPECIAL and call yourself a goalie), and the time clock goes the wrong way, it should not be called a sport. It in the same category as cheer-leading for sports - on the margins.

Putin

On the eve of Y2k, a nation was looking for a leader that would replace a president that was portrayed as a drunk. Boris Yeltsin needed a replacement who could steer Russia into the next millennium. He chose Vladimir Putin.

Putin has been leading Russia in various capacity for 14 years, either as president or prime minister. Under Putin's leadership, the economy is booming and Russia is regaining its standing in the world.

Putin is a popular leader in Russia, being portrayed as a superhero in various media. The Russian media always show him bare-chested, hunting dangerous game, participating in martial arts, and being an all-around tough guy. The Russian people eat it up and give him high approval numbers.

Despite his vast approval, Putin is not perfect. His background as a KGB spy is very suspicious of his motives. He is a Russian patriot, which means that he will do push Russian interest no matter the cost. The Russian invasion of Crimea is an example of Putin expanding national influence and bullying Europe into paying more money for natural gas that comes from Russia.

The US media is portraying Putin as homophobic for signing anti-gay laws and that Russia is trampling on the LGBT rights. I have a slightly different take on the issue. Russia has been fighting a slow population decline that has seen their death rate overtake their birth rate after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Russia is slowly recovering but has not gotten to the point of the replacement rate. Putin sees the need to encourage people to have children and not be exposed to the homosexual culture. Putin needs more Russians and these laws are designed to do that.

When it comes to leadership, Putin is running rings over the current occupier of the White House. When it comes to moral authority, it's either the ex-KGB spy who is slightly anti-democratic v. the community organizer that enforces the laws he likes, spies on people via the NSA, and who acts more like a dictator every day he is in power.

ID voting

You need an ID to buy alcohol, cigarettes, adult content, drive a vehicle, get on an airplane, and conduct business in the United States. Why wouldn't you need ID to vote?

The reason Democrats don't want voter ID laws because they want to have the ability to commit voter fraud whether they need to win an important election.

Barack Obama

The United States of America is celebrating its 238th Anniversary of its independence from Great Britain. We took power from the King of England and declared that the people should rule themselves.

Now, in the year 2014, we have a leader who is trying to become even more powerful than George III could ever imagine. Barack Hussein Obama has, over the past 5+ years, expanded the powers of the presidency and proved time and time again that he is above the law. With the stroke of a pen, President Obama can determine what the law is and how to enforce it without consulting Congress.

Obama has told the American public that he against big corporation, big banks, and special interest that poison politics. However, when it comes to Solyndra and other businesses, Obama is the biggest friend to corporations in our history (Especially left-wing business that go bankrupt within a year).

Obama complains about Republicans not working with him to solve American problems. I can tell you why Republicans won't work with you. It's called Stimulus, Obamacare, Fast & Furious, and other items that have shown the opposition that there is no point in working with you.

Stimulus was suppose to fix roads and school, in reality it went to unions in state governments to keep the states from cutting spending. Obamacare....I mean the "Affordable" Care Act...is nothing but the government wanting to control every aspect of daily life.

Right now, if I listed the president best to worst, our sitting president would be the second worst, only slightly better than James Buchanan. Buchanan's horrible decisions and policies led to the Civil War. If this country gets hit with a major catastrophe similar to that, then Obama will become the WORST.

Biden 2016?

The Hill had an article stating that with Hillary Clinton slipping in the polls due to her new book, Biden wants to run for president. My question to everybody: Why was Biden allowed to speak in public.

Joe Biden could not win in 1988 and 2008, why should the American people give him the presidency in 2016? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he got busted in '88 for plagiarizing a speech from a British leader.

Dick Cheney has a better shot at winning the presidency than Biden, the only vice-president worse than Dan Quayle.
